With ever increasing energy cost, our improved focus on the environment and the desire for healthier homes, a new style of building has evolved. Some call it "performance building" others "high efficiency building", but what it really means is that we are changing the way we build homes. We are modifying our plans and methods to improve efficiencies, reduce energy cost and improve environmental impact all while improving comfort and health related factors such as interior air quality within the home. To help the consumer, the government has established certification processes by third part inspectors to ensure compliance to Energy Star standards. New Dream Homes is a registered Energy Star Builder. We know that to achieve certification for our homes we must start with quality construction and planning. In fact, it starts at the very beginning by having plan reviewed by certified auditors. Then we begin the construction of a sealed the crawl space to help control moisture, using low toxicity termite protection to improve air quality and be more environmentally conscious. The process continues through nearly every step of the building process as we incorporate high efficiency windows, improved framing techniques, properly designed and installed heating and cooling systems, tight duct work and improved insulation. Finishing it all off with Energy Star appliances and lighting fixtures. The cumulative effect of all these improvements is quite impressive.
In fact, homes qualifying for Energy Star's 5-Star rating use 30% less energy than homes built to the 1993 Model Energy Code. There are even incentives available by certain lenders for buying Energy Star certified homes. (for more information on these lending programs please visit energystar.gov)
We are proud to be a registered Energy Star Builder and to be bringing high quality, high efficiency homes to buyers in the triad. Browse the following bullet points highlighting the features and benefits of an Energy Star home.
